Tow Mirrors

Hey guys....got my 2500 HD gasser in sept. It came with color match stock mirrors. I want to upgrade of course for safety. The dealership just told me that they can install the mirrors but nothing will work on them. REALLY!!! Anyone in Az know a place I can go get them installed and have all the lights and heater work? Or am I SOL....

I would recommend the previous gen style mirrors if possible. I liked the new mirrors, the visibility seems a bit better than the older style, and the rear facing LED lighting was cool, but the blinkers in the mirrors were so bright and blinding at night that you can not see what you're turning into. If they can hook up everything except the blinker in mirror feature, do that, otherwise get the older style. My 15 1500 NHT had the new style, and my 15 3500HD has the older, it's so nice being able to see where I'm turning at night again.

and find a new dealer. Yes these babies will set you back 625 for the black and 100 more for chrome. If your current mirrors are heated, and power fold, and have turn indicators then those functions should work just fine. As for the spot lights - there will need to be a switch installed in the center console for them. That could be easier than anticipated if the wiring is already present - which it might be.

I have a question on tow mirrors. I have them and thought the rear spot light was supposed to illaminate when in reverse. This only happens if i turn on the rear light/bed lighting switch. Am I missing something in the programming that can make this automatic??

I have only played with them on the dealers lot. There they only turned on with the switch and not tied into the transmission at all as the truck was not running and in park. Finally found it in the owner's manual - the cargo and mirror lights are on the same switch - the cargo light only works in park, the mirror lights operate in park, neutral, or reverse. The indicator light on the switch will light only when a light is active.

OK, I found the parts and harness to change everything out. Looks pretty straight forward...Has anyone actually done this yet...or will I be the first?

A good couple hours of work. You would not be the first to do them.

I take you have found either p/n 23372181 (Chrome) or 23372182 (Black) for the tow mirror kits. What numbers do you have for the harnesses?

You will have to remove both the front door panels, and the factory mirrors. The dumbest piece you will deal with is the top black trim that wraps around the top inside of the door. The harnesses themselves are not bad.
