Gun Safe

I want to replace the lock on my gun safe and need to remove the access panel on the back of the door. How do I get these black tabs off? I wedged a screwdriver under them to pry them up and they were STUCK on there. I didn't want to use too much force and break them off if that's not the proper way to do it. Any ideas?

Use a panel clip pair of pliers looks like they just pop out

I'd try a fork or if you have it, a forked trim tool.

My guess would be that those are just a cap for the actual fastener.

Yes, they look like Snap-Caps or something similar. There should be a little plastic washer under the screw head, with a rim that these plastic covers snap on to. A screwdriver or some kind of forked tool should pop them right off,and you'll see the screw head underneath.

So what was the finding? They look like two piece panel fastners used in auto applications and replacements are readily available.
