Interesting pic catch can after 550miles

Drained can and had approximately 45ml of fluid which is about 1.5oz. I let it sit in container overnight. At first it looked like coffee with creamer. Overnight it separated into about 5 different levels

4 days later and checked it as it was sitting in my toolbox and found this. It melted container!

If you'll notice, it ate through at a VERY specific spot. I realize this is kinda a "duh" statement, but whatever combustion byproduct inhabited that particular slice of the mixture (I'm thinking maybe 2nd one down? medium brown?) attacked your container very aggressively. If you knew what the container was made of, may give you a clue to what byproduct attacked it. Appears to be some polymer, so my guess would be an -ane of some sort. Butane, etc. Potentially even a very weak benzene.

Probably something from fuel vapor that the can catches.

 

If I understand correctly it will catch water, oil, and fuel.

I'm sure we can safely assume that the bottom portion is water and yes whatever by product of combustion in the mid to upper levels is what caused the melting of container. I'm glad it's not in my intake!
