Garage door opener help

I bought a new craftsman opener. The older style could use a door bell button to work the opener. The newer ones don't work that way.

I have a Harley receiver on the wall, transmitters on the headlight. The receiver has 2 wires from a NO relay inside. That no longer works the opener.

So now I'm thinking of getting a remote for the opener, zip tie the button down, and have the HD relay finish the connection from the battery to the remote. So I call liftmaster since they make the opener for Sears. All the remotes are button battery. A 9 volt with wires would be nice for the project.

Anyone have a better suggestion?

I can't specifically help on the Sears opener but I had a different brand in a building with a multifunction wall station. Turned out though it just had two wires going to the wall station and if you shorted the wires with a regular button or relay it did operate the door.

Time to get modern and use a wireless remote. The Craftsman is a striped down Lift Master. Much better choices out there but it looks like that boat has sailed. Chamberlain has taken over the garage door market with the features they offer.

Got it figured out.

On the circuit board SW1 is the switch that triggers the circuit. Left side two terminals. When I jumper those together the door operates. So I'll solder two wires there and i can add a button at the door for walking out. Also wire the Harley relay there.
