dirty spot for an alternator.

 

my 96 gmc broke one on startup, I followed a water line from hood edge right into alternator.

upside down, defying gravity to find its way to the sucker side of the alternator.

 

how in the hell did it do that.

 

I made it a cover..and found someone had a remanned pile in it anyway.

1 copper brush ring was too worn to make sense...with new brushes on it.

 

it got so hot the bearing welded to the case. No smoke or fire, just noise...voltgauge gone crazy.

 

i got it a brand new non-rebuilt..and it is 20amps bigger and a few changes inside anyway.

 

chrysler is actually the famous for the worlds first big alternators...the mini vans of the 90s. shame about this.

I got an 11 diode nissan in my subaru, which mimics mistubishi, which got the idea form chrysler. hope they figure it out.
