Service air bags

PI1469 was confirmed by my dealer today. Charged $96.53 just to tell me thatl the air bag has high resistance in the wiring plug. Want another $180.00 to fix. My truck is a 14 with just 16k miles but will not cover the fix. Seems to be a safety item to me? Says the cause is high resistance in the wiring harness connectors and they will cut and solder wires as required. GM at its best or is it a dealer thing? Does my air bag work or not. It's on pass side only.

Your bumper to bumper warranty should cover that.

Now the service air bag is staying off? Sure would like to know what's going on. Is the plug bad or not? Can it go from good to bad? Then bad to good? Or are they just drawing straws!

Check the connectors under the seats. make sure they are all tight they have a lock arm on them make sure that's clicked in as well.

If one of the weight sensors is not working they trip the airbag light.

But if the connector is not in tight it goes on and off intermittently.

I had a vehicle back and forth to the deal and the lock on that connector was not clipped in.

I found it not the dealer.

Have done anything behind the door panel? I have forgotten to reinstall the airbag module once when testing out door harnesses. This through up an airbag light error.

Locate your "crash sensor" also known as "impact sensor". Remove coupler from sensor with key off and negative lead removed from battery terminal. Clean and inspect this coupler for dirt or moisture. Apply di-electric grease on coupler end.

If your air bag light returns, most likely you need a new sensor! Most often the harness and wiring is not the problem, rather the sensor has accumulated moisture and now has some resistance.

If your air bag light stays on, you are not protected in an event of a crash.
