Scratched Windshield

Just got done plowing the Blizzard of 2017 here in Maine. Plowed for about 16 hours on and off. Lots of ice buildup on the windshield, having to run the wipers a lot to keep some sort of visibility. Today I noticed that the windshield is scratched or scored in a few places...anyone have this happen this quickly before? Truck is new in April.

Is it possible that the windshield could be covered under the 3yr/36,000 warranty?

I'm asking that question but it doesn't sound likely.

Not covered under warranty, but should be handled by insurance just like a rock chip.

2 things

sand and salt on the windshield will scratch the glass, it can get mixed in with the snow build up on the blades so keeping the blades ice free is important

running the wipers when the windshield is Hot & Dry will scratch the glass, never leave the truck running (or but stopped on break) with the wipers still on and no snow accumulating

if you have scratches that are unbearable ... in Mass glass is a nondeductible replacement with appropriate coverage - a tap on the inner bottom corner will make a crack - presto - new new windshield for free - but that would be wrong

Feb' 2nd chipping the ice off w/s and I noticed a chip & a 5" crack on the driver side just outboard of the wiper. :banghead: How the heck did that happen? I never even heard anything hitting. Must've had the stereo too loud :tear:
