2011 Silverado: E15 vs E85 Gasoline

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 Silverado that can run flex fuel E85. We have a gas station that is selling E15 gas. Can I use E15 if my truck that is setup for E85?

The number after the E is the percentage of ethanol in the gas. You can use anything up to 85%. Your MPG will go down if you use E85. E15 is the new standard in most states and Canada.

At least for me, when I hand calculate my mileage and cost, it is still cheaper to use E85 over premium 93. E85 is $1.65 gallon, premium 93 is $2.75.

Your going to confuse people who don't understand why your using premium ( unless you have a 6.2) some people know why you would but most wouldn't. In my area E85 was cost effective over reg gas, butt I bought it for the performance gain and drivability.

Yeah, I guess I should have stated that my 02 is Black Bear Tuned for 93. Sorry about that.

I run E85 for the clean burn. Over time it acts like a fuel cleaner and can clean up your combustion chamber. Several YouTube video's show engines torn apart after running it and the piston tops and heads are nice and clean.

I recall seeing a GTO torn apart 3000 miles after the guy switched to E85 and man was it clean inside. Stripped every bit of carbon out of the cylinder.
