Help me pick rear shocks

Hello all. I'm going to add a 3inch block in rear in place of stock block. I'd like to go with bilstein or better. The bilsteins I see are only good for 0 - 1 inch lift. Am I missing something?

Any of you running similar block in rear and what shock are you using?

Thanks!

Just add a shock extension to the stock shock. That's what I did when I installed my 3" blocks. If you want aftermarket shocks the extensions will also work with them.

I have this same question too. Are you removing the stock block and replacing it with a 3" ?..I believe it's about 1 1/2".

At that point it's only going up 1 1/2".

Not always. Check the descriptions. The kit I was looking at said 2 inch block, but it was actually 2.25 inches and would give you exactly 1" over stock.

3 inch block minus the stock 1.25 or 1.5. I keep hearing different heights would give me 1.75 or 1.5 inches over stock. Can any of you tell me where to get a shock extension? Believe me I have searched

I ordered a 3" block lift that's sitting in my garage. I decided to install a Roadmaster coil helper spring to help reduce the bucking action pulling my tool trailer caused. Thinking about dialing it down a little and installing the blocks too. Problem is that the blocks came without a taper and the shock extensions don't look like they would work. I think they could be for a 3/4 ton truck. I'm in the same boat as you wondering if I should get extensions or new shocks. Mine have about 108,000 miles on them.

Ready lift makes some. They're on ebay for $42 with free shipping. Just search for shock extensions on ebay. There's other ones that are probably cheaper but I just like the quality of the ready lift ones. I've had them on my last 2 trucks.

The blocks I have are tapered. I ran the 3" blocks for a couple of years without the extensions. It wasn't horrible but you could tell the shocks would max out if you hit a bump in an intersection. Once I put the extensions in it took care of that. Here's a pic of them installed. Not my truck. I'm too lazy to craw underneath it to take a pic.post-54656-148743731148_thumb.jpg
