Spare Tire Cover

Has anyone bought and used a spare tire cover for the spare underneath the bed? Seems like it would keep dirt, debris and water/moisture out to help prevent rust from locking up the latch?

I would avoid that because of trapping everything. On my last truck I took the spare off and had it powder coated. No rust issues anymore.

Those are made for tires mounted on the back of a vehicle to make the spare look better and protect the tire from UV's

Putting that under the truck would be like putting a bowl under there to collect all the water, condensation, and debris. I use my spare when I rotate my tires every 7500 or so miles so I typically grease up the system while I have it all down

I put a plastic cover on the spare tire years ago and it trapped water and dirt/salt inside. Not worth it and may have cause more damage because the tire never dried out properly.
