GM Warranty Props

Guy's,

I have to give GM kudos for today. I got in my 2016 Silverado with less than 20,000 miles and it was completely dead. Started and ran fine last night.

Called OnStar and they had the truck picked up by a flat bed and taken to the dealer. The dealer was only open till 13:30 hrs. I tried to start it at 09:30 hrs.

The dealer replaced the battery and up graded the recall on the transmission and back on the road by 13:30 hrs.

There must have been a bad cell in the battery. All on GM's dime of course. Happy to have her running and back in the garage again.

Not bad turn around even considering the tow.

Glad it worked out! I had a brand new vehicle battery fail on within 6 months......I just jumped it and drove it to shop...They gave me a loaner since it was 1 hour before close....

Mookdoc,

I thought about just a jump and then to the shop. But I just had cataract removal the day before and was suppose to be at the eye Doc. by 10am. So I thought I would cost GM and let it hit their news at the plant that there was a tow in on one of their vehicles.

Anyway worked out really good and I was impressed, I also did not want to chance hurting anything on a jump. Let them take care of it till warranty is up.

I have seen several complaints about the OEM batteries and not just GM. I have a 2015 FURD that has had 2 batteries replaced under warranty so far. Industry regulations are squeezing the battery industry pretty hard but the sierra club members are celebrating haha.

All the things fixed under warranty on my truck have been first class. They even replaced my 4 rims when they were not holding up. I have zero complaints with their service thus far ( I am now at 42k miles )

Noticed you're in NH... what dealership do you use?

I go to Banks in Concord. I did not buy my truck there as we couldn't make the numbers work but they have been great for service.

It must be like the "Good-for-a-Year" tires - they get whatever they can at the best price. Had batteries fail in a '98 Caravan in the first year, twice! And in my 2007.5 Duramax the passenger side failed in Dec 2009 at 30,000 miles.

Most def will lean towards a good AGM battery like NorthStar, for the '17 'Rado when the time comes.

Time will tell for me? I bet these K2's just suck the life out of batteries with all the added draw from infotainment. And I live in Phoenix so I bet I burn these babies up every 24 months like clockwork?
