Tailgate Handle Disassemble

Just talked to them and they claimed the camera or computer could have easily made a mistake. Told me to bring it back in the morning and they'll re spray it using the actual paint code no charge.

He didn't even want a picture he just said " if you say it doesn't match I believe you. You don't even have to show me " I'm still going to show them when I take it just so they know.

What's the trick to getting the handle and bezel off? I just had a bunch of tile loaded in my bed and they didn't put it in far enough. Slammed the tailgate shut and when i tried to open it, the latch popped but the gate won't come down. Must have broken something and now I don't know how to remove the latch or bezel.

What's the trick to getting the handle and bezel off? I just had a bunch of tile loaded in my bed and they didn't put it in far enough. Slammed the tailgate shut and when i tried to open it, the latch popped but the gate won't come down. Must have broken something and now I don't know how to remove the latch or bezel.

Take the access panel off of the inside of the tailgate. If I remember right there are 10 star/hex head screws to remove, then the panel just lifts off. You will have full access to the handle and the rods that latch and unlatch the tailgate. Changing the handle is just two screws for the handle and two for the camera.

Is there anyway to take it off without taking off the back panel ? My latch is broken and won't open. My trifold hard cover won't let me get to it. I really don't want to destroy my hard cover if i can avoid it.

Sorry for the late response, can you post picture of what your handle looks like now? What you will try to attempt is to move the mechanism that the rods are attached too. The rods are stacked with one on top of the other (not touching) and controlled by a lever that rotates clockwise when the left side the handle is pulled and pushes against it. So, if you could remove the just the handle (not the body), or pry it out to see the lever on the left hand side (facing tai, gate), then push it up and too the left, should move rods to unlock (open) it.
