DUAL OBD for AMP Steps with EDGE programmer

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali and it came with 37's and 22's. My wife simply wanted steps to help ease the pain of getting in and out but with those steps it uses the OBD port as the easy power. My question is if I can just get a generic dual OBD pass through cable or if I have to get the AMP specific cable to run both the programmer and steps at the same time. The amp brand cable is $85 and I have seen pass through cables for as little as $9 on ebay and amazon so not sure if those will for or not. Need dual ports to plug in Programmer as well.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Won't be able to answer your OBD2 question but why not just hardwire the AMP steps? This would leave your port open for the programmer

I'm in the same boat, and while I don't have a tuner yet, I want to hardwire my amp steps. Should be pretty easy.

Hard wired my Amp steps to the truck harness per the included instructions. Works great no need for the $85 adapter cable.

Also I wired my steps so they only open with the front doors. This way if I am loading passengers I keep the front door open but if I am accessing gear in or under the back seat I am not cracking my shins on the step.

Yes you can. I did exactly just that. I have the AMP step, and just bought a splitter on Amazon around $10-$20, works just fine.

Just don't get the one with the on/off switch, it's missing PIN 1 which the plug n play needs. There are some that you can plug in place of the original ODB II port, while you tuck the rest behind/underneath the dash. I would just check to make sure it has all pins for pass-through.

Such problems

I would recommend using the AMP cord. For. Few bucks it makes life easier

Now I have a 2017 AMP DOES NOT have steps for the Duramax due to engine and DEF TANK changes

Will be a cripple by the timee they manufacture them. In the mean time will install A step on the drivers side.

Hate to drill holes...
