Hit the NOS, Brian !!! Dom's beatin' You !!!

How did they get the Charger to do the wheelie, just sheer power from the car, or SFX ? My guess is the first. Reports for it that I've seen is 900hp at the rears, and something like 1056 lb-ft torque. But I doubt the numbers could be that high. Well, maybe they could with a helluva lot of work to the drivetrain.

Having been there and done that it would be possible for the Charger to pull the wheelie like in the movie but, I think that the one they show is doctored!! I watched it a few times and it still looks to me like the Charger jumps up in the rear at the same time it pulls the front end up into the air, "IT AIN'T GOING TO HAPPEN"

It would take all the weight transfer to the rear for it to pull the front end up. So if you ask me it is fake. Just my $0.02 :D

I saw a thing about the Fast and the Furious where it talked about some of the special effects required. They had a crane that lifted the front end of the Charger. After you know this, and you go back and watch it, it becomes more obvious.

They are using hydro's on the front of the charger to get it to wheelstand

Yep, I don't know why but I watched the special feature stuff on the dvd, it has bars under the car that use hydrosto push the front ed up.

Oh, the blower be fake.

I guess if you didn't use hydro's you would twist the driveline when she went up

That much torque is bound to break something. If you watch the big monster trucks like Grave digger every know and again you'll see them snap one :smash:

Oh that stuff can be done easily, but the tires aren't going to boil like that.

There was a Chevelle at the track last time I went that would slap the bumper on the ground, then he would punch it again and hit the bumper on the ground again. I heard he put on wheele bars and has been snapping driveshafts like twiggs.

It is entirely possible for a 440 with a blower to tote the front end like that. The problem is that in the movie, it smoked the tires too. Spinning tires indicates a lack of traction. Toting the front end indicates NO LACK of traction.

Bad story, bad acting, you could only expect bad special effects. Especially on the only real car in the movie, but I guess they had to total the real car because if Vin flipped the ricer he'd be dead.
