I can't believe the Donald has not spouted off about this! I guess he would rather bash his Canadian friends over 2x4s and milk than an American company being forced out of there own plant that it has been operating since 1948!

Why would he? He promised to bring jobs back to the USA. This is a step in the right direction.

They won't be making vehicles at that plant. GM can make them somewhere else, like in the USA.

Well lets just hope the Mexicans don't get any ideas. They would effectivly put GM out of the crew cab 1/2ton truck bussines! hahahaha

 

I agree that these factories should not have been moved to these other countries but I don't see corporate greed changing anytime soon! They all have done it in all manufacturing sectors, not just autos.

 

Trump has his work cut out for him if he thinks he can bring all this back to the US! I don't think Americans are willing to work for peanuts like the workers in factories that have moved to Asia, South America, or even European countries.

 

IMO GM would be wise to retool an American factory when they get ready to build the new GM trucks we are expecting soon! But the price of a truck is going to go way up to make up for American labour costs!

you failed to grasp the main reason WHY GM had a plant there in the first place: To make cars for the SOUTH AMERICAN MARKET. NOT A SINGLE CAR Valencia made was shipped to the United States; the cars made at Valencia were meant for Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Venezuela, and Argentina; and made to THOSE countries' standards!

Not at all. Most of that market still exists. Those cars will be made somewhere else. Where we don't know yet.
