Started the truck today to go to work and engine light came on. Says " rough idle cold start" it was middle of the afternoon and 72 degrees ? It's a 2016 silverado with 37000 miles... any ideas about the rough idle ?

I've seen this DTC a few times. Most of the time it leads no where really. The ECM noticed a low fuel rail pressure on start up. This could be a high pressure pump leak down or a piece of debris around the rail sensor. I'd clear the DTC and drive the vehicle and see if it returns. I wouldn't be to worried about it, especially if it idles okay.

I've repaired a few trucks with this dtc. They have always been a bad injector, leaking down.

Rough idle/cold start code on my 2014 Chev Silverado for the second time now. First issue was at 84,000km. All 8 injectors were replaced under warranty June 2016. Now just over 1 year later and at 123,000km the light is on again so I brought it in and same thing. They said it was all 8 and it's not covered under warranty but maybe GM would do something being as my warranty just ran out at 120,000km and one month after the year warranty on the first 8 injectors being replaced was up. No response from GM and now they are saying only two injectors need replacing. My truck has been at the shop for a week and I'm on the hook for the rental. They say they will cover half the cost on a goodwill plan. My cost is $580.00 plus a week of rental costs. So how long until the next 6 go? What is causing this issue is what I want to know. I only run premium fuel....

My 2014 Silverado with 72k miles had the same issue took it to dealership and had to replace injector cost me $2k. Not happy sent a complaint to GM, as I was getting it fixed they said we can just sell you a new one I was like no I'm almost done paying it off.

How many of you people that had injector failure were actually a failed injector or just failed injector compression seals. I had one fail and when I replaced it the compression seals were gone. A week later 2 of the new injectors had bad seals again. I'm not sure if this is an injector seal issue or an issue with the engine itself.

When my seals failed you could hear a puffing coming from under the intake from the compression gases blowing passed the injectors. 036c0817e89af790f210ec9e45bd680e.jpg72e2be807ea65762883f6de747e2b875.jpg

I wonder if this is the reason so many injectors get replaced. Are the injector seals serviceable or is it just replace the injector and hope the seals hold up?

They're serviceable with a special tool and each injector comes with the seals for the other 3 on that bank since they're not reusable. They're a Teflon seal that has to be stretched on and resized. The tool costs around $180.

I have the same issue. Cold start rough idle. The truck is running rough. We had all 8 injectors replaced, the ECM reprogrammed. After reading much about this, I asked the mechanic if by chance there is some sort of air or fuel line leak. He told me he checked injector preassures with diagnostic machine. and his machine would tell him if that was the case. He is suggesting I replace the ECM next.
