Dented rear bumper, want to try to replace it myself. Looks hard as shit. Anyone done this before

I swapped my dented one out. Wasn't to bad.

It's not too bad. Just take your time. Air tools help tremendously.

Side note, on my last truck I didn't have to mess with the bed to remove the rear bumper. On my current truck, I had to remove the bed bolts. I only loosened the two bolts nearest the cab to keep the bed aligned. In this scenario, it helps to have an additional person (one to pick up bed, the other to slide the bumper out.) The same applies when reinstalling your new bumper.

Here is a You Tube video on how to remove the rear bumper.

Couple of things though, as Zach said, remove the bed bolts except for the front two and use a jack and a couple blocks of wood to pick the rear of the bed up. If you drop the spare tire you can get to the bolts on either side of the license plate a lot easier. Last thing is removing the tube for the spare tire lock which is a real PIA. Here is a video on it.
You might want to get a new lock ring. Good Luck!

I've done thing many times as well as I've swapped from Chrome to color matched. At the time, used the factory jack and a 24" 2x4 to raise the bed. In the video I watch where they just yanked the bumper off, I couldn't do it on my 2016. The bumper bracket has an offset that doesn't clear the bed to come out.

This is the is bracket offset that required me to lift the bed about 2".

The only connectors I needed to remove were the Trailer Connection and the main harness. I dropped the spare for easier access. Didn't need to remove license plate bulbs.

The tube for the spare tire bar came out (on the tire side) and I didn't need to remove the locking ring connector like in the video above.

One thing to note, I wasn't able to access the outer park sensors. I installed the bumper with the sensor out (waiting for paint to dry) and learned I couldn't access the outers easily and had to remove the bumper again. Lol.

Hope this helps.

How did you get the tire tube to come out. Does it just slide out?

the plastic piece on where the tube goes into (on the tire side), is slotted and allows for some flexibility to be pulled about and away from.
