So my grandpa passed down his dads old truck. 1973 Chevrolet c35 camper special with the 454. A month before my great grandpa died he put a brand new crate 454 in it and when he died they parked it and it sat for 15 years. I decided to get it out and get it running again and no matter what I've done I can't make it run by itself. I put a new fuel pump, new tank, all new fuel lines, fuel filter, and even rebuilt the carb and all it wants to do is flood out. Every time. But if I hook a bottle up to the carb and and turn it over it'll fire right up and run perfect, but if I hook the fuel pump back up it'll flood out and won't run for shit. Anyone have any suggestions? It's a really nice running truck and I'd like to get it on the road.

Is the pump to much for a carb? You may need to run a fuel regulator or a different pump. Carbs don't require much PSI (4-10PSI depending) where as EFI requires a lot higher (40PSI+).
