What holster are you using?

I usually keep my CCW on my person. I don't have to remember where it is. I don't have to worry about it getting jacked with my truck because let's face it, it can't help you if you don't have it. That is by no means a jab at anyone it's just the way I feel about it. Having a CCW and not carrying it as a CCW is intended to be carried is of the same mentality as public establishments putting a placard for no weapons on their buildings. I can assure you that those signs have never stopped a criminal or saved anybody's life just as your gun won't protect you by itself. Again, don't want anyone to take that as a jab at them, it's just my opinion about the matter and we all know about opinions. With that said I don't want anyone to do something they are not comfortable doing. Okay, rant over.

To the OP, as I said above I typically keep my CCW on my person even while driving. Trust me I understand at times this can be very uncomfortable, especially when traveling long distances. I normally carry either a glock 43 or a shield 45 in an appendix inside the waste band holster. This is fine for short quick trips. When I am traveling long distances I have a Crossbreed Supertuck that I wear at about the 3-4 o'clock position. If I absolutely just cannot stand to have it on me I will take the gun and holster and just stick it in the cup holder so it can still be accessible quickly. This doesn't happen very often but it seems to work for me.

So where do you keep yours then? That is, after all, the point of the thread.

On my hip, that's the point of a holster. I also keep some spray in the same pocket I keep my keys....

Where do you stash it when you go into federal buildings and other restricted areas?

No offense but I don't think the storage of your CCW when entering federal, state, or other restricted buildings is the point of this thread. All law abiding citizens, whether concealed permit holders or not, know you can't carry in those areas anyway. And I would surely hope that no one leaves there firearm in a quick draw holster mounted on their center console in plain view when they exit their vehicle.

I know you don't want to drill holes, but I have an AlienGear Cloak Dock and mounted it under the steering wheel. I made sure to put it on the one plastic panel (took it off to mount it) so that I can easily replace that panel if I ever need to.

I never leave my gun in that location - If I'm carrying, it's on my hip. However, when I'm driving it is much more comfortable to place into the holster mounted in the cloak dock.

On my hip at at about 3:30.

Not to sound like a d*ck but I just don't get the point of leaving a gun in plain sight of anyone, including the passengers in my own vehicle. If your setup is too uncomfortable to drive with that it requires you constantly moving it back and forth from your hip to a holster mounted in the vehicle you should probably consider different kit or a different firearm.

That's fine, you don't have to get it. What works for me may not work for you and what works for you may not work for me.

I don't always use this mount, especially if my passengers don't know I CCW (unlikely if they are riding with me). It also isn't in plain site, but mostly hidden (it's under and to the right of the steering column). It works for me.

Just ran across this on the book of faces but it looks like this may be a viable options for those that don't want to drill holes in their consoles and still want accessibility of their firearm. Link below to a video:
