So I discovered what appears to be a rock chip inside the seem of my back door, it is not huge but its noticeable. What are my options? It looks like a few pices of shot hit the paint

I might add(sorry at work) but they are pretty small chips, I contacted the dealer in hopes of them possibley fixing it(obviously not for free)...any opinions or advice?

Small chips are usually touched up. The dealer will have the correct paint in a pen/bottle. You will need the colour code from your glove compartment. It sucks to have chips but they are repaired easily unlike a scratch. Good luck.

For some strange reason the RPO tags (SPID label) don't have the right paint code or its not on there at all lately. I'd bring your VIN and have them look it up that way.

Some chips are so small that paint pens can't 'wet' the hole leaving a blob that sits on top. Looks horrible and doesn't protect anything. Doctor Color Chip kits are good for those. Larger ones I still use the paint pens but use a 0000 art brush instead of the broom they supply with good success. Patients and cleanliness is key to a good job. On horizontal this takes some time if the chips are deep.

Thanks for the replies guys, the dealer I purchased from wont even call me back(they have no form of a body shop in house) so another local gm dealer is going to look at it and hopefully fix it easily..its a very small chip but it annoys me.

Rattle can, just get close and give it a shot right on the chip. Not really, if you can get a dupli color can you will have chip paint for life. Seems those pens dry up but the bottles can last a pretty long time. That's why I get white, it stays cool, does not fade and can be matched with any mfg white.

Then consider running boards. I live on gravel roads, 2 miles of them any time I leave the house, and have not had a rock chip in quite a long time.

I have bars on the truck, the chip is in the seam where the door meets the cab(back seat) right in line with the door dinger strip..my dealer doesn't have a body shop but another local GM dealer has one..not sure which one to go with..i'd assume every dealer has a touch up guy on hand incase something comes in transit messed up?
