I'm going to be added step bar led light to my car, was wondering if i tap to the dome light, when you turn on the dome light via center top console, would the light turn on at that point as well? I like the idea of it dimming off as i unlock key and then close door but also i want it off when i turn on the light from the center top console in case i'm driving and want to turn it on but don't want the led on the step bar to be on when driving. any thoughts?

I just received my ebay led strips from the American company previously mentioned on a different forum... How are you going to run the wire to the outside of the truck, and are you going to run two separate power wires, or run one from the driver side to the passenger side under the truck.

Yes your step lights will come on with the dome light.

I installed step lights on my 2015 GMC sierra 1500. There is a grommet for the parking brake under the drivers side the I used the run the wire into the cab. I soldered the power wires together as well as the ground wires so I only had to get one wire in the the cab and to ground.

Do you have any pictures of the exact location you wire into the cab? Did you run wires from the passenger under the truck to the driver side?

I'm hoping one but if it's easy to wire into cab from passenger side, i will wire to my led footwell lights already in place in the truck on both driver and passenger.

Don't have a picture but the grommet for the parking brake is easy to spot. Yes I ran the wires from the passenger side under the truck to the drivers side. I routed then trough the cross member. I did this because I only wanted one penetration into the cab.

I posted a picture on this thread so you can see where the grommet is. It is the same thing on the passenger side, except it's a solid plastic piece you will have to drill into.

I sealed with Marine Grade Silicone and haven't had a problem. And yes, just tap into the dome lights/or existing footwell lighting.

where did you route the wires from passenger side to driver side under the truck so that it is not in the way of anything that would be hot?
