Motofab 2.5" top spacer or TGC 2.5" ?? Advice needed

Wanna get a level kit asap but I noticed, though the TGC kit is highly recommended....the lower strut spacers are two per side of 1/5" each. I assume to give you ability to tweak the amount of level you want. Is it safe to stack the lower spacers like that? Even if it is, I would think that you'd eventually get chatter due to them being two separate pieces of metal close together.

 

Or just get the 2.5" Motofab top spacer and call it a day?

 

I will admit though, the trucks I've seen photos of with the TGC 2.5" kit look much more level than other kits out there.

I ran the tgc 2.5 on my truck for a year before trading it in and never had a problem. I was a little skeptic at first as to why two pieces instead of one but it worked fine and I beat the hell out of that truck on the trails.

I assume with the top spacer in the TGC kit, there were no issues with the amount of threads available since it's such a thin spacer?

No not at all. I liked that you couldn't see the top spacer since it's so thin

Awesome. I think the issue when or trucks are perfectly or nearly level with most other kits is that the bed is level with the front fender and the hood being a bit higher, gives it the nose high appearance.

 

Now if I could just find the TGC kit a lil cheaper....

I have a 3 " front and 2" rear leveling kit from Motofab installed in my truck and love it. My only complaint was the block that sits on top of the front struts was so big that it had its own studies to use which forced you to spin the struts and was a major pain in the ass to install. I would recommend the Rough Country Leveling kit for our trucks. Pretty in expensive and its nice because the front has a block under the front strut and a space that slips over the studs. If I could do it over again I would have gotten the rough country set up

The bottom of my struts were angled 45 degrees to match the angle of the control arm. By putting the spacer on with the new studs it spun the struts around and the angle was off, I was forced to compress the spring and spin the strut with not tension on it, luckily I did this at my shop where I have a spring compressor mounted to the wall

Ahh ok so what you're saying is you compressed the spring and basically rotated the top of the strut allowing the bottom to maintain its matching angle with the control arm?

Maybe I'm wrong. But, rotating the strut shouldn't be any kind of issue since it's basically a shock inside of a spring. So you're basically just rotating the top half around without the bottom turning. The shock is just a round valve. Think of it as turning a bolt while holding the nut still. It's not effecting the position of the nut. Now I'm sure it was a PITA to rotate the top of the strut because of the tight seals inside of the strut, same as trying to compress a new shock. But, it shouldn't mess with the angle of the lower mount to the lower A-arm. Also you shouldn't have to rotate 180°. Just rotate the too until the 3 studs line up with the 3 holes. So the top should only have to rotate 60°. Maybe I'm wrong though, happens a lot.

TGC kit from their site with shipping is about $98. On their eBay listing it's $89 with free shipping but their seller rating is crap at 98.9%

 

That's alot of money for a front only level with an apparent crap seller rating

I see a good amount of press for both companies. However, I see less bad about motofab and better ratings on both Amazon and eBay. I'll probably end up going with Motofab, just gotta decide if I wanna go with the two piece top/bottom kit or the single 2.5" top spacer

You're over thinking it. For what it's worth a bottom spacer can be installed in a 1/4 of the time as a top spacer. Ones not gonna be any better or worse than the other. You can install the bottom spacer without removing the strut or the ball joint on the uca.

I suppose you're right. Though I want 2.5" so the reason I'm torn is, my height difference is 2.5" currently. So I dunno if I want to just get the 2.5" top spacer....or the 2" lower spacer and 1/2 upper strut spacer.
