TSB Sticky???

Recommended Posts

Hello, pardon me if i cannot find this, but can we have a pinned post dedicated for TSB's? I have a 2017 sierra and have found so far 2 service bulletins for my year by searching the forums. I printed one out for future reference but i cannot find the other i read a few weeks ago. Can we get a pinned post for them if we dont already have one??, and can someone share with me if we do??, as im a long time member and i dont see anything anywhere. You'd think it'd be sticky, if none then lets get one, moderators?.

Thanks, I thought so as well! Can't believe there is no pinned sticky on this already!

Hello moderators??!! Anyone know how we can get this pinned?

Thanks

Maybe PM a moderator? I will run it by the admin because in the past it was frowned upon by GM to post TSBs (people would scan them post here and run to their dealer no matter if they needed the fix or not).

TSBs are reference for techs, really bad idea to publish for public misuse.

The problem with that is then you have to count on your dealer to go that extra bit when having issues. I have lost count of the times i have found tsb's detailing the exact problem i am having to only be told by the dealer nothing can be found or done until i give them the number of the bulletin that is! I have noticed more and more that dealers these days are hiring very inexperienced techs, most places have 1 or 2 top guys that know whats going on and the rest are virtual oil changers for the most part. I know at my dealer i know more then the entire service department concerning my truck and most of the product they sell on their lot for that matter, people like that are not going to go that extra mile digging through tsb's reports trying to cross reference a potential fix because they simply do not have the knowledge to do so.

Actual TSB's are available to the public. I think you can order them from Helm but not sure. That is why they came out with PI's. PI = preliminary information. Not a finished TSB. Hence not supposed to be available for public consumption. This is why that there are about 300 PI's and about 50 TSB's for a 2015 Silverado. Most PI's never become TSB's.

I totally agree with this! I've been here also, I've found a tsb related to an issue I was haveing a couple years ago with an older truck. Turned out I've had the problem for the whole time I owned it with only getting the run around at the dealer. I later found a tsb and brought it in. They did the fix and truck was fixed. Blows me away why they just can't look this up. But as you said above, a lot of incompetent employees the dealers have these days. Would like to see a tsb sticky done regardless of if GM frowns upon it. Heck they don't seem to care giving you the run around, so why should we

You are thinking of alldata. This is a pay for information service.

This. Not sure why someone would think this is a bad idea. With my previous ride, I would have a problem, look at the TSB section of the forum, and print it if applicable. When I went to the dealer, all I had to do was hand the printout to them and say "my car is doing this". The service advisor was always appreciative.

No, I've been in dealerships for 35 years. It was a very big deal when they became available to the public. Before that, it was dealer only. And, no internet back then. You can probably find most bulletins online somewhere if you look far enough. But, Helminc offers all bulletins from 1980 through 2015 for 24.95.

My mistake, I didn't realize you were experiencing so many issues. Pertaining to new vehicles my last warranty issue was... never, and I took if I recall exactly, 2 vehicles in for one or maybe 2 recalls many years ago. I apologize.

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
