I'm pretty sure I will sell my truck privately... I'm pretty sure I'll get my loan payoff amount plus an extra ~$2,500 back. I've been paying ahead on my payments.

I don't mean to get into your financial situation as I fully appreciate that there are many variables. Aseibel and others have given good information and the right truck will come along. Leave your options open. GM doesn't make a bad 1/2 ton, imo. All of the 2014+ Double Cabs come with a standard sized box as well as many of the Crew Cabs. The V6 is rated to pull 7,000 lbs and the V8's pull more! I looked for close to a year for my truck and ended up with a new truck that exceeded my expectations for less than I was willing to pay!

yeah, I first set foot on the dealership lot looking for 2-3 year old used truck. I ended up with brand new because the value was better. They like to ask A LOT for used trucks. When you can get a brand new one for only a little more with better financing. Moral of the story is, you get to make the decision about what is best for you, and with the internet on your side, you are not limited to one dealer or one city while browsing. The salesman I worked with was very helpful in finding what I wanted, not trying to upsell me. Find one like that and be patient.

I've kinda noticed this... Still, if I can save $5k on a used one with 20k miles that is one model year older and has all the things I want, I'd probably do it. I know there's a lot of incentives to buy new though...

Out of curiosity, what type of mileage do these trucks get with 33" all terrains and a level or installing new coils as a means of leveling? These trucks definitely sit low!! I've never been one that likes to lift a truck. Just some slightly taller tires and an extra couple inches in the front will go a long way for me.

1mpg highway for the level. Tires can vary. I went from factory 22"s to some nitto ridge grapplers on 17s. I lost 3-4mpg. And the new combo is 10 pounds lighter per corner. If I had originally had factory 18s it would have been even worse. My speedo is calibrated for the new size. If you go with slightly less aggressive tires your looking at 2-3 maybe.

I've just finished arbitration on my 2017 silverado due to vibration. Arbitrator gave a Interim Repair decision which allowed GM one more chance to fix the problem. GM just called me to inform me they are installing shims on my cab mounts to dampen the vibration. Before arbitration GM took the stance that the vibratioin was within spec and no repair was needed. This is my third new vehicle and by far the worst experience of my life. Some of the trucks are good but if you get the crap end of the stick and end up like me you will find that GM is not your friend and works against you. This has been going on for nearly 6 months and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I believe most of the trucks are good. Sorry that you are experiencing problems and hopefully this issue will get resolved. I had an oil consumption problem with my previous Sierra and it took a lot of time and effort to overcome the "within spec" argument! However, GM did make it right. My current 2015 Sierra has been flawless and arguably the nicest driving vehicle I've owned.

I was looking for a 16+ LT with under 25k and was blown away by the asking prices.

For $3-4 grand more (after incentives and rebates) I got a 17 LT Z71 with 11 miles on the odo.

I love my truck and am still very happy with my decision.

I was blown away by how nice it rides and by how much power the new 5.3's

make compared to my oldold 2000 Silverado.

I like my 6 speed after stuffing rubber behind the gas pedal bracket to stop the flex. (helped driveabilty)

I average 16-17mpg in town and have a high score of 21.8mpg...I don't leave town much, lol.

I run premium because the 5.3 has a pretty high compression ratio, IMO.

I don't like how my buddies 2500 Cummims ride..If we're going to damage our kidneys lets do it with alcohol!

Same here when I was looking for a truck to buy I was looking at used because at my age (20) I thought it would be a better option than buying new. Searching for a used Silverado or Sierra regular cab I quickly learned they where over priced. Like yourself I found out I could get a brand new Silverado regular cab for a few $$ more. Ended up with a 2016 Silverado RCSB for 36k.

So I think I could definitely live with the 6 speed. I don't see a reason to go 8 speed.

I actually took a 2017 out for a test drive yesterday, and I am very impressed with how they drive. Extremely smooth, and the trans/engine combo feels refined. Definitely making it hard for me to be patient.

Still trying to justify spending upwards of $37-40k for a 17. I know it is worth it, but that makes it a little harder for me to plan for a house and other toys haha.

Priorities and compromises! These can be tough personal decisions but we're lucky to have the choice!

KMK94, like others have said, I think you can find what you want in a new 2017 for close to the price of a 1-2 year old used truck.

Here is a new gray crew LT Z71 for $35850.

There may be others out there that are close to your perfect truck for little more than a used one. In my experience with this dealer, they had more room to deal than listed on their site.

Don't just consider the negotiated price. It sounds from your comments like you'll be making payments. Consider interest rate. 0% for 72 right now on new. Finding a used one at the same price as the one I linked above, at a competitive current rate of 2.15%, the truck would cost $38077 after financing, with higher monthly payments (assuming you put the $2500 down you think you'll have from your current truck and finance the balance, and make minimum payments). Financially you're better off to buy new, plus you know the history of the truck since you're the only owner and have the full warranty.

Hard to believe that no one has mentioned magnetic ride control. Not sure if the other models have it as an option, but it's standard on the Denali. After having it I will not buy another vehicle without it. Drive a truck with and without it back to back and you'll agree.

What impresses you about magnetic ride control? I have never tried it so just curious!

Also have never driven one or in a truck with it equipped.

My first concern is limiting the suspension kits that are comparable
