Researching/Buying a Lemon Law buy back

I am considering purchasing a lemon law buyback Sierra 1500. The truck was bought back in Michigan, and is now hear in Ohio for sale. Test drove fine (for the few miles I drove it) even though I wasn't able to take it to highway speeds. The complaint was "tire vibration". It has newer tires on it an they claim a part has been replaced to take care of the problem. They are agreeing to split the cost of an extended bumper to bumper warranty. Would you?

Does anyone know of any way I can research this vehicle's complaint?

I wouldn't. Not unless you get an extended time to really test it. Many on this forum have never been able to find a fix for the shake.

Here is one thread, there are tons! Do a quick search and you'll see a lot. Not saying it won't be a good truck, just doesn't hurt to know!

I wouldn't say it's common among all of the K2 trucks, my '14 rode perfect. But, the vast majority of the people that had the problem could never get it fixed. I'm also pretty sure most had the issue at interstate or highway speeds. I wouldn't do it no matter how good the deal is. Warranty (especially an extended warranty) doesn't help if nobody can seem to find the problem.

Stay away! Not worth the headaches. There are tons of buy backs due to vibrations that couldn't be fixed.

If they could replace the part to take care of the problem, why wasn't it fixed for the original owner? I am not opposed to the idea of buying a lemon law buyback, if it checks out favourably and you are paying "pennies on the dollar" to purchase the truck. You may have to sell or trade-in this truck someday and it will still be branded as a lemon!

Don't buy unless you can take it to highway speeds, then if the price is right let your a$$ make the decision.

This is one of a few situations where you should be using your a$$ instead of your head to make the decision. The vehicle will either shake or it won't - after reading numerous posts your brain will be actively looking for "shaking" and can be fooled by a ridiculous glass of water in a cupholder test (which is a good test for the integrity of the armrest/cupholder, but nothing of the vehicle itself) instead of listening to the rest of your body. But, not so easily fooled are your a$$, or your hands, or your feet which either feel the shake or they don't! And if it is the consensus of hands, feet and a$$ that they cannot "feel" the shake........then it isn't really there.

I had the shake between 72-78mph. I've got an extended cab 6.5' bed, and 2wd. I had the 20" gloss black wheels that came on the elevation package. I just lifted my truck and put on 17"Method wheels wrapped in 34" Nittos and the shake is gone up to 110mph

Make them put new wheels on the truck and then buy it

Take it home for the night and drive it to work before you buy it. If they won't let you do that don't buy it. My dad often drives a truck he is interested in home for a day or two before he buys it.
