Hello, I've read forums for years yet never posted. If found lots of useful info in them which I appreciate. I posted a question in the technical area and maybe that was the wrong spot.

I've got questions about backup camera install for an Elevation. I'd also like to know about cold air intakes. I've read about the good and the bad some say yes some say no. I love the sound of them and if I can't get a little more mileage out of it then I'll say for get it.

I'll appreciate hearing from those who can help.

you aren't getting responses because your question isn't clear.

Adding a backup camera is not cheap or easy. If you really want one, I would recommend getting OEM parts installed by the dealer, then you know it will work. I also do not recommend watching the video screen while doing "brake checks" at 80 mph. (as you mentioned in your other post) I didn't even know you could get a vehicle without a backup camera in 2017.

For the intake, the jury is out on whether or not the filter and air box need to be changed, but there seems to be some agreement that a replacement tube is beneficial. Airaid MIT is a popular one, but there are several brands that all do the same thing, I just installed the Airaid on my baby. I'm a fan.

Yep, 2017 and no backup camera. I'd like to have the dealer install it but my cash is sending a kid to college. She just got another car so I'm just lucky to be driving around in the new truck I have.

I'm leaning towards getting a cold air intake, looking at the dry filters. I've seen too many MAF sensors go due to oil from a filter. The worst was a Volkswagen turbo that ran horribly. I did everything to try and make it run better. Turned out the MAF was nasty with oily mess. Ran nice after I cleaned it.

Definitely have the dealer install the back up camera, well worth the extra cash, Youll save it in the long run on headache medicine and heartache when the cheap aftermarket is faulty and screwing up other electrical systems.
