99 GMC Sierra SLT cd player

So I have a sierra as posted and it has the tape player and CD player with the CD player being below the radio and tape player and ac controls. It's between the center console and the radio. I am wanting to replace the radio but don't wanna leave that CD player there. Is anyone aware of a way to replace it is there a way to turn it into another cubby ?

Yes. I installed a Delco radio with built-in CD to replace my Delco tape unit. Then bought an digital aux in conversion box that plugs into CD player port on back of Delco deck.

 

GM used the same size cubby tray in a astro / safari vans. Pulled out my external CD player and clicked in astro cubby.
