so my truck came with the 3mths of free wifi... .believe it or not, i did use it .. . but let it run out... i believe it was 30 a mth for 3gb of data.... .

come to find out... ATT offers a wifi hotspot... called ZTE Mobley..plugs into the ODBC port. . right now if you order online, its free (see linke below)... its only 10 bucks a month with a two yr contract... BUT.... it piggy backs your current plan data cell plan.

At first it sounds great but you'll end up paying $240 for that device and if you go over your data limit it'll cost you more. Call up AT&T and see if they can get you on a unlimited plan. I'm on a AT&T unlimited plan and a few months ago I ran though 73 gbs in a month. Unlimited data rocks lol

How would you compare the signal strength between the onboard Wi-Fi on the trucks to the ZTE Mobley?

I have the AT&T unlimited plus plan, and it comes with 10GB/month hotspot included. I connect my truck to that if I need to use any of the features on the Mylink.

I know OnStar offers unlimited Wi-Fi data for $20 month with no contact required.

My trial data (3gb?)was running out after only 1 month although they give you 3 months to use it. I joined the AT&T unlimited plan from onstar for the $20 a month. I'm curious to see how much I'll actually use. I listen to music (apple music) constantly and I have a wifi only ipad that I use occasionally in the truck.

$20 is cheap for unlimited data, and I won't have to hot spot my verizon phone anymore for the ipad. 1gb overage on verizon is $15. No contract so I can cancel it anytime if I feel it's not worth it because i don't use it enough.

I called att and had them add a line for onstar. I pay $10 extra per month to att, none to onstar and get an additional 1gb and the line uses group data including rollover data. I have not had an overage yet with my 2 yr old watching netflix on her ipad on 10 hour trips.

Pretty cool feature

Be careful plugging in stuff to that port. My friend had a verizon thing plugged in to that and it tripping his check engine light. Dealer told him not to plug anything into that. They actually printed out papers from GM and gave it to him about plugging stuff into to it. He took it out couple month's ago no problems since.

Just used the $20 unlimited a month deal for 2 back to back long road trips. Used 27 gigs of data watching movies on the ipads. Canceled the auto renew when I got back home. Money well spent.

sounds like a good deal. I'm on the unlimited data plus with 10GB/hotspot for my regular family plan. I might have to call them up and see about adding OnStar to my plan, for $10/month extra, might not be bad.

I talked to AT&T and due to me being on the unlimited data plus plan it would cost $20 to add the truck to my plan which is basically the same as OnStar. If I wasn't on the unlimited plan, it would be $10 month....guess I'll continue to hotspot off my phone, unless I go on some really long trip I might get it for the month....
