Salvaged Title

My truck has a salvaged title from Hawaii. The truck has been shipped to California but I havn't registered it yet. Does anybody know how I can get a clean title?

the salvaged title is tied to the vin number. So I dont think you can.

Per the DMV, the title of the vehicle is "branded" and the Salvage Title is proof of ownership. You cannot "erase" a salvage designation.

That being said, salvage vehicles can be a good deal. But you have to be very alert for problems that induced the branding as salvage (bad collision, flooding-think Katrina, fire, etc.). If you don't check out the vehicle carefully, then you could join the ranks of people that got screwed by getting a terrible salvage title vehicle.

 

I have a VW Rabbit with a salvage title and it has worked out well for me.
