Good thing Trump pulled the United States out of that Paris climate bullcrap. They can stick those electric cars up their collective arses.

Electric cars are fine and all, but I still think we're aways from going 100% electric.

I realize that 2040 is still a long time in the future. So maybe we'll have batteries that can go 500 miles and charge in 5 minutes by then.

Where I grew up, in rural Iowa, you'd have to drive 20 miles to get groceries. One way. You'd have to drive 50 miles (one way) to get to a shopping mall to buy decent clothes or shoes. Electric cars would be tough in that part of the world.

My issue is when government's try to dictate to people what they should buy... But it is a long ways away and a lot can change by then.. My bet is that this won't fly and they'll pull back at least a bit on it by then.

Not likely to see that in the US or Canada with both economies tied heavily to natural resources.

We haven't heard yet but I think the stupid Liberal govermment in Ontario will be all over this idea. They will keep taxing gas more and more until you can't afford gas vehicles- we're already at about $4.40 a gallon regular. The thing is that the majority Liberal population lives in Toronto and could use public transit. Damn everybody outside the Toronto area who cares about them- they are just rednecks with trucks and other gas guzzlers. We'll make them pay (through excessive gas taxes)for the electric car infrastructure even though they won't be able to use it. Everything will be great in Toronto which is all that matters in Ontario anyway.

Ummm, where do they think the electricity comes from? They are more accurately referred to as 'alternative pollution source vehicles'. Instead of smoke eminating from the tailpipe, it billows out of the smokestack at the electrical generating plant or creates nuclear waste. Disposing of the used batteries is another concern.
