Cracked dash

Free? Ha! Good luck with that. GM offered to pay for half and stick me with the other half with no guarantee that it wouldn't crack again (and therefore, not be warranteed again). What gets me is I have seen prices ranging from $500 replacement cost to about $1200 replacement cost. They claim there's nothing wrong with the way the dash is designed, yet the newer, replacement dash pieces have more reinforcement bracing in the areas prone to cracking.

Cracked dash

Did anyone get a free new one from the dealer

I don't see any reason why a dealer would charge you anything for a cracked dash but it never hurts to ask.

Maybe some day there will be a class action lawsuit on it.

Nissan has one right now for the sticky dashes in older Altimas, $200 flat fee to replace the dash with a new one that won't get sticky.

There is a facebook page for the GMT900 class vehicles with cracked dash panels and there was talk on there from a law firm trying to gather enough people to get a CA lawsuit started.

This will be good. Sadly, I think I'm one of the few people left in this world that does not have a Facebook.

Didn't know "those people" existed! LOL ( just giving you a hard time). Sometimes, I think my life would be simpler without it.

Haha. Worst part about it is, I'm 22.. I'm young and don't even have one. I haven't had one since sophomore year of high school. Always get asked, have you seen this on Facebook??? Nope... no I haven't. Lol

My 2007 was done for free in 2011 @ 70k miles. Gm calls it good will money. They paid 1/2 of my 15 gmc 2500 tow mirror replacement 60k miles.

There is a class action lawsuit for this in Canada. It has the exact problem already set out. I say we all need to start a CA suit in the US for the same. I found an article from an attorney in Florida that was working on the issue. My 12 Suburban goes in tomorrow and I can't wait to see what they say about my cracking. I have a 4 inch crack coming off the left of the passenger ab, a 1 inch crack from the top of the pa, a 6 inch triangular crack from the steering column top toward the windshield base and a 1 inch crack on the front of the steering column.
