GU6 Axle Rear 3.42

your exact max trailering weight depends on cab & bed configuaration. probably around 9000 lbs. (I'm assuming you have the 5.3 v8)

crew cab short bed 4x4 is 9,200 lbs

"quad cab" is a dodge and not in my book. lol.

CK15543 Crew Cab Standard Box 4x4, you have the L83 5.3 V8 and GU6 3.42 gears. The most current publication from GM for a 2014 (2014 owners manual current print) puts your truck at 9600lbs towing capacity.

I have the 2015 brochure and nothing is listed higher than 9400 only for a 2wd v8 with 3.42 gears.

If you have 4x4 its either 9200 for short bed or 9100 for standard bed.

8th digit is a C, 5.3, if it were a J, 6.2. So look in your owners manual for 5.3 with a 3.42 rear end. This is for a crew cab short box.

Vehicle Axle Ratio Maximum Trailer Weight GCWR (a)

5.3LV8 3.42 4 354 kg (9,600 lb) 6 804 kg (15,000 lb)

5.3LV8 3.73 5 352 kg (11,800 lb) 7 938 kg (17,500 lb)

6.2LV8 3.42 4 309 kg (9,500 lb) 6 804 kg (15,000 lb)

6.2LV8 3.73 5 352 kg (11,800 lb) 7 938 kg (17,500 lb)

OP has a 2014. Last 8 of his VIN on the label up top starts with EG, E being the model year, 2014. In the 2014 book its 9600lbs for his truck. I know its splitting hairs of a couple hundred lbs. but...

alright, I'll believe you, but its funny that I have the same exact model he does, but 1 year newer and I can tow 200 # less.

Maybe Chevrolet didn't have the tail wind in 2015 that they did in 2014 when they tested identical trucks. :driving: Just say'in all manufacturers way over-rate 1/2 ton towing ratings as those models are the best selling. I have a 2005 K1500 EC rated at 7700 and I wouldn't feel comfortable towing anything near that weight, but I'm old and got that way by not being stupid.

I think 2015 they instated the SAE J2087 standards. Lots of the capacities for 1500 trucks dropped 100-400lbs if I recall, and interestingly, the HD trucks gained on some almost 1500lbs capacity. My 2015 HD was 13000lbs, then went to 14500lbs for 2016.
