I would. After all the work taking everything apart might as well!

Personally I don't like press in ball joints. I would rather replace the control arm itself. Just seems to me if you press something in and out it just gets weak. I won't recommend the press in joints to our customers at the dealership. Just my opinion though. And you can get both upper control arms for 75$ with a 10 year warranty. And the time that it takes to beat and bang and press the old joints out and new joints in isn't even worth it time wise.

Here is the like to the Control arms I was talking about. http://amzn.to/2yF9lpy

Not attacking your personal style, I know I do things different from other technicians too and that is what makes us all so interesting, but where do you base the claims that pressing ball joints weakens the arm or the hole that the joint is pressed in to? I drove an old dodge pickup for a number of years that went through more lower ball joints than I would care to admit, and I never had an issue with one moving. Most of the time, pressure is applied in the direction that the BJ presses in, minimizing any chances of them moving. I will 100% agree with you when it comes to aluminum arms. Half the time the new ball joints will slip right in with no resistance, but I think recommending control arm replacement over BJ on a steel arm is big time overkill and just racks up the bill for the customer. As I said not attacking you or anything like that I am just curious if you have any findings or proof where you have run into any problems on a vehicle with steel arms

I need new ball joints because the boots are all worn out on the upper and Lower on both sides and my lower ball joint on the passenger side had a blow out and has leaked grease out of the boot. I was on rock auto and noticed there are SKP brand ball joints for about $5 and AC Delco for $17. What is going to be the difference if there is any and are the AC worth triple the cost?

It's a 2005 silverado CC 4x4 z71 with torsion bar suspension.

Here's the page I'm looking at.

Also besides the upper and lower ball joints and the idler arm is there any other grease fittings or parts I should inspect while I'm down there?

I know you already put Moog joints in the truck, but for future reference when I was on a tight budget on my old 03 I rebuilt the entire front end with Mevotech stuff. I was pretty impressed. I used the truck for hauling and working on my hunting leases. Truck spent a lot of miles on the highway and a LOT of time in the woods and driving through rough fields and it all held up great for the rest of the time I had the truck. While you are working on that inspect the inner tie rods, idler, and pitman arm for any play. Pitman arms are a very common wear item on these trucks. Might as well freshen up anything worn while you are already doing work that will likely lead you to gettting an alignment

The mevotech stuff looked great. There was just a lot less info and testimonials out there on them. I inspected everything while I was working on the truck and it's all in great shape. Hoping to keep this thing until the wheels fall off Then put them back on and keep it until they fall off again, so maybe next time I'll go mevotech. We'll see

I've used the Mevotech "blue" steering and suspension parts in several vehicles now and been happy with them.

Less expensive than OE or MOOG and I think same quality.

I've used them in two VW's, my 06 Z71 Burb and my wife's 08 Outlook.
