2015 2500HD Silverado with non power folding mirrors that have LED lights in them

Just bought a 2015 2500HD Silverado.  Have the early non power folding tow mirrors in my truck.  I was having a problem in my truck where the cargo lights, bed lights, and LED's on the mirrors were not working.  Took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it as a bad BCM.  Ok, fine.  They replace the BCM and now the cargo light and bed lights work perfect but the LED's on the mirrors still do not come on either mirror in park or neutral with activation of the cargo switch as they should.  Dealership is a bit stumped at this point.  Any thoughts on what it could be?  I'm thinking a BCM programming issue myself, possibly the wrong build code in on the mirrors.  The other possibly cause is these mirrors never came with the truck and were added after the fact and never wired properly?  The code according to my VIN for the mirrors on my truck is:

DPN - POWER OUTSIDE CAMPER MIRRORS WITH HEAT AND TURN SIGNAL

Are these mirrors supposed to have the auxiliary LED lights in them that turn on in park and neutral or did the previous owner swap them at some point?

Look at the service parts identification sticker in your glovebox. I have both DD8 and DPN. I have the LEDs on my mirror and they activate in Park, Reverse or Neutral.

DD8 and DPN.  I have the LED's in my mirrors but they don't activate at all.  The cargo switch only turns on the bed lights and rear cargo light.  Should they be coming on automatically without the cargo switch?

When you say “LEDs on the mirror”, there are 3 separate lighting circuits.

Park Lamp (Clearance Amber - shines forward)

Cargo Lamp (White Lamp - Shines rearward)

Turn Signal (Red LED in the glass)

Can you provide more specifics on the behavior of each prior to the BCM programming or swap?

No, they activate with the cargo light switch. You should have the proper wiring with the DD8 mirrors.

That's what I thought.  Only the bed lights and rear cargo light are coming on the roof.  No mirror lights.

Note that DD8 is the auto dimming Rear View Mirror.

Mirror lights worked prior to BCM swap?

Re-read it and it seems that the mirror lights were never working. Sounds like someone install mirrors without the proper harnesses and/or the supplemental RZY Jumper Harness that some early 2015 HD trucks might need.

They did not, which is why it was brought into the dealership.  The cargo lights and bed lights did not work either.  Dealership replaced BCM and cargo lights and bed lights now work.

These mirrors are the ones that came with the truck per the build sheet.  We already double checked that.  DD8 and DPN were my build codes.  DPN as I understand it the truck has the correct mirrors on it.

The white Cargo lamp LED's that shine rearward are the ones not working.  All other lights function perfect.

Ok. I’m starting to think that who ever had the truck prior wired this up best way he could. Can you test the park Lamp? They should only come on at night OR when the Headlights are manually turned on.

Do they turn on like this or do they come on all the time?

You are correct.  They do not come on all the time.  None of the wiring on the lights was tampered with.  It's all factory.  Everything functions exactly as it should except those rearward LED's when the vehicle is in park or neutral with the cargo switch activated.

At first the dealership thought the mirrors were swapped out after purchase, but after pulling the build sheet they determined these are the correct mirrors on the truck.

The Cargo Lamps should only come on with the switch and only when in park or reverse. If they work like that, then that is the intended operation.

So what activates the rearward cargo LED's in the mirrors?  I was under the impression that the cargo switch, when activated in park or neutral (reverse if you use a jumper), is what activates those mirror rearward LED's.  For me right now, the cargo switch ONLY activates the bed lights and the cargo light on the rear top of the truck.  Absolutely no switch with the transmission in any setting will activate the rearward cargo LED's.  They will not turn on under any circumstance.  This is what led me to believe the BCM programming they did does not include the DPN code.
