Chevy Suburban

Hello!

I'm a new member with a 2010 Chevy Suburban problem. The cruise control went out, and after researching, I learned there is a pretty straight forward fix which is to replace the brake switch, I did that. It actually worked on the short test drive I took, but the next day it stopped working and hasn't since. What can the problem be?

 

PS: I'm not a mechanic. This is my husbands Suburban which I rarely drive. But I am a good researcher and was pretty proud of myself that I repaired it. Now I'm stumped. Any advice will be appreciated.

Check the switch installation again and even a new switch can go bad.  The module on the steering wheel could be bad but before spending too much money on it, get access to the computer's internal trouble codes.  The BCM will store codes as to what is wrong.

did you replace the taillights recently? or still the stock ones?   I thought I remembered some of the aftermarket led ones would cause issues with the cruise control.

Thank you. The taillights are the original equipment.

Ok, I did actually check it after it worked and then stopped working. I was thinking possibly the steering wheel module, but before I even started troubleshooting I checked the BCM for codes and nothing came up. I was stumped. On another note, his stabilitrack message periodically pops up, the truck stalls at stops. No error codes for that either. According to the computer everything is fine and dandy.

Bad grounds, problems with AFM or even a hub's ABS sensor, could be anything.  What are you using to check the codes Ma'am?
