Hey teckies:

 

Anyone know how to make  "Apple  carplay"  work on the display? 

I have plugged in my Iphone with the factory cable, it sees the phone and I can play my music, but that's it!

I want to be able to use my Iphone navigation with a map instead of the turn by turn from Onstar!  Any  tricks to make it work?

I'm pretty sure the 2016 Silverado's should have Carplay.

 

Have you tried a new, good USB cable?  A good cable is more important than you'd think.  

 

Otherwise, are you doing what this video shows?  You do have to push the Carplay button, which will say "Projection" if your phone isn't plugged in.

When you plug the phone in, the 'Projection' icon should change to 'CarPlay'. Hit the CarPlay icon and it should bring up the iphone menu. If you don't see the 'Projection' icon, you don't have the feature.

Some of the 2016's did not come equipped with CarPlay.. Are you sure the vehicle is equipped with it?

 

They did have some supplier issues (only with non navigation units - IO5) at one point on the 2016's.  So some 2016's with the non nav head units didn't have the feature.

 

They gave a credit for not having it.
