Front impact sensor 2013 Sierra

Has anyone tried to replace front impact sensor 2013 Sierra? Mounted on radiator support with bolt through support from top. Only about 3/4” clearance between bolt and radiator. How do you get at the thing?

thanks

Actually they are easy to change. Remove the plastic shield underneath  ( 4- 15 mm bolts) and unplug it. A 10mm ratchet wrench works well.

Maybe they changed something. I've changed a lot of them but don't know that any of them were '13s. Does you'd have a left and right sensor? Most or maybe all do.

Yes have both left and right sensor. Both seem to have torx head screw with what I can feel with my finger

Ok, I looked it up and it has internal torx on the top. below is an external torx. it' very small and will strip or break easily (stupid design). needs to be removed via the lower small torx. It probably won't work though. It has left handed threads. Also, it is mounted in a slot so it only has to be loose. Worst case, pry or beat it out.

Tried external torx socket and as feared end of bolt snapped off. At that point took Tbarn’s advice and beat it out with cold chisel. New one went in easy and used my new external torx sockets to tighten up. Thanks for help Tbarn didn’t know there was such a thing as external torx till you mentioned it.
