2015 GMC Sierra trailer service message

Recommended Posts

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra, starting the vehicle the display on the message board says Service trailer brakes. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if there is a fix for it or a glitch? I do not have a trailer hooked up to it and it only happened for the last couple of days with no changes to the vehicle.

Any help would be appreciated

Are you saying only when you start the vehicle and it immediately goes away?

If I put my key in the ignition and leave it there without starting for several minutes, or shut the truck off and not take the key out and restart, I will get that message, or some random other service message. No codes have been found by the dealer computer, so for me, just a glitch.

I've Had The Trailer Service message come on periodically and sporadically that was about 2 months ago and never comes on again and have done nothing to remedy the problem as I can't find a problem

Issues talked about in other threads. Problem can be resolved by creating a better ground connection at the trailer.

If you don't have a trailer hooked up, then I'd suspect moisture/water in the 7-way connector or in the under body connector. Spray some WD-40 in the connector to dry it out and see if that works.

Well here's an update to my previous posting. I haven't seen the message come up ever again. It came up for a period of time when I would start the vehicle or do during a drive. It fixed itself LOL.
