I recently read a thread about the 2017 backup camera not being able to be dimmed. however I didn't see an update for a fix. I asked on the post but no response , did anyone have the same issue and have it resolved

Tell the dealer you want this TSB performed:

#17-NA-269 - Rear Camera Screen Bright At Night - (Sep 13, 2017)

It will make a huge difference. I can see it off my right side mirror now.

Does this fix impact daylight viewing in any negative way?

When I take my '18 in for its first servicing, I'm going to get this done.  Agree with the rest of you, "DAMN IT'S BRIGHT!!!"  Didn't have this issue with my '15.  As a matter of fact, I just put it in my "Truck To Do List" in the Reminders app in my phone.

I’m guessing this is what you are all taking about? Very hard to see. When it’s raining out and I have water on the backup camera it’s even harder to make anything out the camera is picking up.

That helped on mine, but VERY LITTLE.  There is a pin that you need to pull from the back of the unit.
