You really want to go to a 4.10? I really think a 3.73 would be so much better.

But if you want a 4.10  -

Ring Gear and Pinion http://amzn.to/2A7YL90

You will also need

Differential kit - http://amzn.to/2Ab1cHN

Gasket - http://amzn.to/2A9e69g

Or if you want to be cheap and use your old bearings.

Crush sleeve - http://amzn.to/2iQuFzv

Shim kit - http://amzn.to/2kRRib5

Gasket - http://amzn.to/2A9e69g

with the 4.8L I would think the 4.10 would be reasonable. 3.73 is a good all around ratio though. I thought about going from the 3.08 to a 5.xx just for the fun of it, until I had to drive on the highway. lol

with my silverado 4.8 l and 3.73 gears, would be fine, towing a 263BH flashlight COLEMAN, 5820 pound

The max towing capacity for your truck is 4700lbs. So if you decide to do it, that's up to you.

Do the gears change the rating? I know my capacity with the 3.08 is less than trucks with lower ratios even though it has the HD cooling

Yes, it changes the ratings to a point.  But how does that keep a guy legal who did it on his own?  I have no idea.

Does the OP know the degree of difficulty involved with setting up a ring and pinion to mesh properly?

Agreed. All I can do is give him the original rating for the vehicle.

Personally I don't think it is that hard but I have done 1000 of them and I got the proper tools (pinion depth gauge, case extender, dial indicators and torque wrenches).

But the degree of difficulty is high for a beginner.

I may have to make a trip to see you then, id really like to get mine changed to minimum of 3.42

I changed my 3.23 to 4.10 just after I got my truck.  You will need to have a custom tune done to get your speedo corrected though.  GM will refuse to supply a calibration to correct speedo, assuming the 09 is the same as the 10.  There reasoning was along the lines of just swapping gears will not be enough to tow more weight. They wouldn't even support a calibration for 3.73 that was not factory installed.  With 4.10 speedo/odometer will be off by about 20%.
