Why would they... They never bothered with competing with the current 6.8 V10 so why should this change anything.  Fitting because GM doesn't have a chassis for where this engine would shine being a 4500 and heavier.

If GM does it will probably have afm and be direct injected... give a big old pass on that junk.

Thats a 444.  I had that engine as a diesel for 13 years and 300,000 miles.  Never had a problem, never leaked, as a gas engine I don't know but I know they are not pushing 17.5:1 compression so it should be able to handle a lot of HP.

No need for GM to build it.  There is so much more that can be done to the 6.0 to get more HP & TQ and still keep it dependable as hell.  Why do you think GM let the 496 go away?

6.0 is maxed out, GM has to increase CI as different cam, tuning, compression will not pass emissions nor the duty cycle testing for heavy duty applications.

Ford just redesigned the Heads for their 6.7L diesel to get what 5-10HP?  Seriously?  GM would not do that unless something is wrong?  Actually, the Heads on the L5P were of utmost concern to GM and the design and MFG was ridiculous in time and money from what I gather....GM is also not grenade the L5P'S check out the 6.7L forums....engines going off like every other day........

Point being FERD has more engine choices than I can keep count?  Reason is well they pretty much suck and always have in my opinion...GM will just use the 6.2L and have everything the FERD 7.3L so more wasted time and money for FERD....which is starting to show much more these days as to confusion and lack of focus for future from Management.......

I have often questioned the lack of a 4500/5500 platform to compete with Dodge and Ford. In the RV world there's definitely a need for that platform that GM is getting looked over on

Head redesign for 5-10hp now, probably see bigger numbers in upcoming years from those same heads. Dodge did the same thing with the 24-valve...

The Dodge 4500 and 5500 aren't really that spectacular. Everyone got excited when they first released, then the specifications were unimpressive...I think they thought they would target the local contractor market.

Ford has that market cornered with the 450/550 offerings...

It would take quite a bit to break into that market with Ford leading it and Dodge having a few years in the arena.

And you know this how?  Simply an assumption because they haven't already done it?

I agree GM lacks there but the Kodiak/Top Kick aren't they being rebranded as Sierra/Silverado for that Class?

Just in everyday observation; rarely see a Kodiak or Top Kick on the road, see lots of Ford 450/550, and a few 4500/5500 Dodge. Mostly it's the Mitsubishi-type deals around here...

And further, what's the chances of any of the big three offering a 450/550/4500/5500 with anything other than their signature diesel...

Isn't that the point?  Why even bother with making a Large Gasser?  GM has got it correct same with towing numbers......
