I was having all of these issues but found a fix that has cured all of them for me... unfortunately, the fix is unpairing the Bluetooth connection. If I have Bluetooth paired and CarPlay, it works like 50% of the time. Once I umpired bluetooth and just used CarPlay, I’ve had 0 issues with CarPlay.

I’m having all of these car play connection issues on my 2019. Thanks for this suggestion, I’m going to try it.

I've had the same problem with my last 3 Acadias.  I update the iOS software, so the phone is ruled out.  Also eliminated, using a new USB to Lightning cable (authentic Apple).  However, the GM software or firmware has never been updated.  Only solution I've found other than convincing the dealership to FW the unit is to turn off the vehicle for about 2 minutes (and open the door to turn off Retained Accessory Power and wait for interior delayed lights to go off), then restart the car.

Not sure if anyone on here still has issues or not. I have a 2016 Sierra 1500 Denali, and have had issues with getting my CarPlay to work since buying my truck. I recently went into the vehicle settings and there was a tab that said AppleCarplay and it was set to On. Another tab says add/edit devices. I clicked on that tab and the previous owner had 2 phones on there. I deleted them both and restarted my phone. When I plugged back in my phone there is a button in the bottom right that said pair or add device that went from dim to lit up. I clicked it and it let me add my phone to CarPlay and now it works. I thought I was gonna have to get an new HMI module. Even took it to the dealer and they said I had the current infotainment update for my truck. Hope this helps anyone out there.

2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 Apple Carplay issues have reached my breaking point. The system turns itself on/off without notice. When on, it switches radio stations arbitrarily and even switches modes from radio to other functions. GPS will not work, and the touch screen is disabled for most of the functions. I am at a loss at how this technology makes my life simplified. I am ready to buy foreign on my next purchase to replace this otherwise great truck. UGH!

HI All,

I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali & have issues at time with Apple Carplay.  Sometimes it connects just fine while other times is doesn't.  When having connection issues, the carplay icon on the home screen will usually be there, but doesn't do anything when you touch it.  When having issues, text or call notifications don't appear on the infotainment screen but it'll still play messages or make calls when you press the voice command button on the steering wheel.

Could this be an issue with the phone or the infotainment system? "Sometimes if I turn my phone off & restart it before getting into the truck carplay will work fine.  However, it's a  50/50 chance that it'll connect again the next time I try.

Suggestions???

Hey, new to this forum, did you get any answers to this problem?
