No more AVALANCHE?

I've heard thru the grapevine that Chevy will stop production of the Avalanche because they are not selling the amount they thought they were. Supposedly this is the 1st and last year they will be making the Avalanche. Has anybody else heard this?

I have not heard anything about to that. If it is true then we are talking some pretty big news. If this did happen then all those that bought Avalanches would have quite an investment.

Be neat for me and other Av owners if they did. I'd have to take extra good care of it for my descendants. A lot of people would miss out though because it is an excellent vehicle.

I've never heard it either...  around here Avalanches are selling as fast as HD pickups.  You must have picked up some bad info...  at least I hope so, because the Av is pretty popular!!!

FALSE RUMOR.

The Avs have been selling VERY well. Over 60,000 so far for 02, and the goal was just around 100,000.

At least in NH they can't keep them on the lots, and there's always someone looking at one.

I'll get some offical confermation on monday though.

I find it hard to believe that they would scrub the Avalanche just as they are rolling out the Caddy version for $10,000 more. In any event I intend to drive the wheels off mine, best thing I have owned since my 67 GTO.

I'm not saying this is true. I want to find out for sure myself. Cuz I really want one. almost got one a month ago, I got the Tahoe instead. But I was under the impression that they were only going to make so many of them anyway to see how the public reacted to them and if they sold enough they would continue to make them. I was told that in the first few months, they sold like hotcakes and now they are not selling as many as they thought and they are losing $ because of it and that this will probably be the only year they will be made. I was just wondering if anyone has heard this.  Here in Texas , I see quite a fwe of them on the road also, but I see way more in the dealership lots, and that's where it boils down to. If they aren't selling, it's not good.  :D

My dad had 14 on the lot three weeks ago and now has 2 - he even had to search for the Gawd-Awful orange one for someone because they didn't have one.  They are selling quite well.  No chance of discontinuation.

I spent some time in a 2500 - what a great truck - if I have the $$$ I'd get the 2500 (I just want the bigger engine - don't want to tow nothing).  Everyone still doesn't know what it is, and the 2500 is even taller than the 1500 - They'll be around for awhile.

Next year there will be a Base Camp option with a tent and camping tailgate and a slight make over in 2004 to remove some of the cladding and freshen it to the chevy line again.

I'm glad it's a false rumor. Cause if they did, it would be a mistake. It would be like NASCAR firing one of it's top drivers.

I'm starting to like the Avs. they're growing on me I guess. I really like those commercials too. :D "How about we switch?" or "Change for a dollar?"

SO, any offical confirmation on this rumor?

I agree with Mervz....Avalanche is one of my best sellers!  I do not see GM scrapping a truck that is selling as well as it is.  Not to mention it has only been out a year.  It would be too early to make a decision like that, especially with the amount of $$$ GM has spent on the Avalanche.  JMO
