DRL Bulbs

2000 Silverado. How do you change the bulbs without pulling off the top plastic peice that goes over the radiator?

You should be able to reach them by removing the 2 pins that hold the headlights in and remove the headlights.

That's what I did. Once you pull the pins and get the headlights up you can easily get to the DRL bulbs.

You do know the DRL/turn signal asy. comes out just as easy as the headlight asy, didn't you? Pull the pins and the headlight asy out, and unplug the connectors. Set the headlight asy. aside, then look on the outboard end of the DRL asy, on the backside, and you will see where it clips into a notch. Push the plastic lever and pull towards you, swinging out at the same time, and the other end will come out of where it is hooked into another slot. Hard to describe, but if you look at it, you will see it's a very easy job, and requires NO tools. Gotta love these trucks, huh? You can take just about the whole front end of the truck apart with only a phillips screwdriver, and your bare hands.

You can change the DRL bulbs without removing the DRL/turn signal asy, but you'll play hell getting your fingers in there to undo the bulb holder. Much easier to pull the whole asy out.

Don't feel bad, do a search on headlight related posts, and you will see that there have been quite a few that were banging their heads for hours on just removing the headlights....When they found out that they didn't even need tools to remove them....They had the same reaction that you did.
