Opinions on Kumho Tires

No experience running these tires. Looked at them a few times along with several others but couldn't get past the tread design. All I see are a bunch of "dog bone" treats in the tread design.
If I don't like the tread design on what I'm driving it drives me nuts lol.

These re by far the best I have ever ran.   On my '15 I got 78K miles out of them.   (rotation every oil change)... Both the 15 and  17 I almost never needed to use 4WD.  (I swap tires on the 17 after about 5K miles to these) Rain is nothing!   Very confident with these tires.

We went with kumho on my wife’s traverse. At $187per tire I don’t know that I’d call them cheap. But they rode much nicer than the Bridgestone tire that were on it. Took very little weight to balance out. And are head and shoulders above the Bridgestone in wet and snow conditions.

So far, I've put about 5k on the Kumho tires. So far, they are much better than the stock Continentals the truck came with. On a dry road, they are fine, take off on wet roads will give a little wheel spin, but then again, I drive it like I stole it, so may be a little heavy footed on take off. In the colder temps, they seem to flat spot easily, a little vibration for the first few miles of highway driving before they smooth out, waiting for our fist snow to see how they do, this is where my truck lacked.....rather drive the Wifes new Maxima than this truck in any snow condition....even with 4WD, hopefully the tires will change this.

I was considering the Kumho AT51 for my old Canyon, but decided to go for the Yokohama G015, since Tire Rack had them rated slightly better for wet traction.  I love the Yokohamas.  Unfortunately, they will soon be sold with my old truck.  I can't keep them for the new Sierra, since they are a 16" size. 

 

Anyway, I hope you like your Kumhos. 

 

Were your stock tires the CrossContact LX20?  If yes, how many km / miles did you get out of them?  They are actually rated pretty well in their category, but I see quite a few complaints about short tread life from drivers using them on the bigger vehicles, like the Suburban and Silverado.  I've been very happy with the grip and noise levels of them so far.  I'll be using winter tires for the winter, so I'm not worried about snow traction.

Yep, CrossContact LX20 were factory original....they were horrible, worse tire I ever had. They were toast at 30k, and never any good in the snow.....and I need to be able to drive in the snow, thats why I'm hoping these Kumho tires do well.

It sounds like the CrossContact is better left to the Crossover market. 

 

I plan to run mine down to the wear bars. With my short commute these days, and only running them about 8 months a year, that should still take a few years.
