6.2L with Bad Injectors

Recommended Posts

Got about 4 codes that included p0300 and p050d for issues. I took in to dealership and found out 4 injectors are bad. Of course 37k mileage and not covered by powertrain warranty.

GM Assistance has offered to cover 50% of the 4 injectors cost but I am having all 8 changed in hopes of a better design since 2016. Does anyone know if the part numbers or updates have occurred that may address this from happening again in another 2 yrs or 37k miles?

GM Assistance of 50% seems a little low in my opinion but has anyone had a different experience with them?

Before someone says it all I use is 93 octane and top tier fuel. I am confused how this seems to be happening to many of our truck too early in there life.

I won't have my truck back until late next week due to difficulty in getting some if the parts due to National backorder...Hmm National backorder that could mean a high number of repairs occurring.

Thanks,

Michael

That sucks.  What is up with the high failure rate.

Lots of us have had that issue. Nobody knows the cause as far as I know.

<had same issue with 3 injectors replaced

I had 4 replaced last week, same thing my truck was in for 2 weeks due to backorder.  I dont mind now since it is under warranty, but I wouldnt want to pay for it.  I need to clarify that injectors are part of the powertrain warranty and not the bumper to bumper as that is up this fall

Injectors should be under emissions warranty that I can see?  Might want to have your dealer re-sharpen their warranty look up abilities.

We had a bunch come in that we ordered, there is a pretty good backorder on them.  One truck just got 3 here, 5.3 engine.  Two had really bad flow rates, the third was on its way to the other two.  I'll have to take a look at the old ones that came out.  I wonder if its a carbon build up issue.

Wow they told me they were only covered by bumper to bumper and specifically not covered by the powertrain warranty...It is a powertrain code that comes up but someone on here read something stated fuel injectors were specifically excluded from the list of covered items under powertrain. If any of you have information that specifically puts these under a warranty coverage at 37k mileaage with no extended warranty please let me know and thanks.

Also if anyone has the original part number for injector I am curious if it is updated for 2017/2018 models...

I am still driving the loaner at this point.

Anyone from GM Assistance notice this thread I would appreciate a discussion on this. I am electing to have all 8 done as I am concerned about future break downs if I don't.
