Depending on just how much hauling you do, don't write of the 6.0L gasser. If you haul daily, get a diesel. If not, maybe look at the gas.

With the expense and the DEF/emissions garbage, I decided to stick with a gas engine. I tow a 34'/8500# travel trailer, and the gas engine has performed flawlessly. I've always loved diesels, but have not regretted getting a gasser instead. As a daily driver and the few trips we take, it's perfect.

yeah thats the thing. I don't have shit to haul. i just like the idea of having a diesel truck. But I'm definitley leaning more towards the 6.0. Since I can't justify spending another 8-11 bills on the diesel option.

Go the 6.0 route.  i went the diesel route not really needing one but wanting to have one to enjoy, and it did cost me more $$$$ in the long run.  Would have been just as happy with a 6.0.

After owning a durabeast for years I told myself I would never return to gas. Not having anything to haul now, I couldn't justify the extra cash on a new diesel, so I bought a 6.0. I have been happy with the 6.0 other than the mpg, but there a days I miss my hopped up diesel. Next truck will be a diesel again.

If you are not towing or hauling - why go HD  - there are way more choices in the 1/2T and the 5.3L gets better MPG. Also with the new 2019's coming out there will be good deals on the 18's left on the lot. OR you can opt for one of those new Trail Boss or  the GMC version of it.

5.3 still not as rock solid as 6.0. HD's still made like a "real truck". If its going to do any real work the HD answer is simple.

Basically I like the HD trucks better than their smaller counter parts. And in reference to the 19's; I'm waiting to find a great deal o the last bit of 18s floating around the area.

whats up gang? Greetings from south Florida. I was recently in a car accident and my Suburban was totaled out. :-( bummer right? SO I'm thinking about going into the realm of heavy duty trucks and purchasing a 2500 Sierra. Leaning toward the 6.6 SLT. I've  been reading the forums and saw a couple of horror stories about trucks coming from the factory jacked up. So at the expense of those before me (thanks fellas)I want to try and avoid the issues that others made. Is there a general checklist one should use when purchasing a new truck from the factory diesel or gasser? thanks for the repsonses back!!!

FWIW, If you want the least expensive Chevy in South Florida, I bought an 18 2500 LTZ Midnight Duramax with every bell and whistle for $57k from Bomnin in Miami. Easy as anything else if you don't have a trade. They want to move vehicles. No connection other than I drove an hour to get there....Good luck.

Yep. They are the largest dealer in the Southeast and I guess they roll the dice that the volume/price mechanism works

in their favor. Granted, I hit all the incentives including GM finance. Have since re-financed and still ahead enough for my needs.
