Checked My Front Brakes 64 K Miles Still OK

64 K miles on OEM brakes.

Pulled my front wheels, removed the calipers and checked the brake pads out.

They are still good. 

Maybe 10 K miles left.

 

If I could only get the wife to get this kind of mileage out of brakes.

My ex use to keep a toe on the brake and could kill a set about every three months. No lie. On about the fifth set I told her it sits until she does the brake job.   It sat about three days. She called her brother 800 miles away who coached her through the job which she did decidedly well I might add. That set lasted 5 years.  Killed her French manicure.

I had to do my back wheels at 70k I think because my one caliper froze.  There is a TSB out to install a splash shield in front of the rear wheel to keep the caliper from collecting road grime and prevent the caliper from freezing up like mine did.  Your 04 has drum brakes correct?

Nope Disc all the way. I'm familiar with the shield you speak of, kinda of like a mudflap in front of the tire, correct? I've never installed it. Still going strong. I do check and grease slide pins once per year though
