need help deciding Tire size

have a 16 Sierra 5.3 Z71 shortbed crewcab, its almost time to buy new tires.

I am set on Goodyear Trailrunner, but cant decide about size.

I almost permanently haul a 1400 lb camper, airbags in the truck. I only pretty much drive this truck when i go on a trip.

im torn between 275/55/20 or 275 60/20.  basically 31.9 tire vs 33 tire

ii tow a trailer approx 2500 lbs

will my motor have a hard time with 275/60/20 tire? it is slightly higher rating but bigger overall.

pls help me decide

motor shouldnt have any problems turning the 275/60. I'd be more concerned that that size may rub without installing a level kit.

This is the question I have. Been looking at 275/60r20's for when I upgrade my wheels but I've heard mixed results about that size on stock suspension, especially with the carpet liners.

FWIW Not the same tires but I put on defender 285/65/20's and minimal rub with no lift. mainly due to diameter . IMO 275/60 will be similar width with smaller diameter.

If you get rubbing, it pretty easy to trim. Or you could buy a set of spacers. Not only do they eliminate rub, but they also give your ride a wider stance, which makes it more stable and improves the aesthetics of the truck.

If you use slip on spacers, make sure you torque the lugs properly and re-check after a few miles.

If you use bolt on spacers, you MUST follow the manufacturers installation instructions precisely.

You should be able to clear the 275/60/20's with no problems at all.

As far as the motor goes, you will not have any issues whatsoever. I run 35x12.50x20 on my 14 5.3 and she'll get up to 78 and cruise there like it's nothing. Stock gears as well, only performance modification is a K&N cai. I also tow several thousand pounds on a regular basis (2 side by sides and I pull my camper too).

I'd definitely run the 275/60/20, and do whatever trimming or zip tying is necessary to make them fit. The stock 275/55 is just a bit too small, IMO.
