Stuck on 4wd?

Recommended Posts

So the other day I noticed an aggressive shimmy when under hard acceleration and at speeds of around 70 MPH. When I would get out of the throttle and just remain at normal highway speeds, the shake was gone. I was thinking something in the drive line, maybe U joints or a torque converter. I took it into the dealer yesterday and went for a test ride with a mechanic. He thought the torque was going but could truly identify the cause.

3 hours later after dropping it off, I get a call from the dealer. The truck was stuck in 4WD even though the switch and dash all read 2WD! They said the oil was burnt real bad in the transfer case and that they are going to inspect everything for wear and replace as needed.

Has anyone else had this issue or heard of it? The last time I put it in 4WD or Auto 4WD was at the beginning of JUNE!
